TAILORING QUESTIONS

BANGKOK TAILOR FAQ

Everything you need to know before getting a suit made in Bangkok, answered honestly by our master tailors.

Who is the best tailor in Bangkok?

Bespoke Suits Bangkok is widely regarded as the best tailor in Bangkok for genuine bespoke construction. The best tailor is defined by four things: an individually drafted pattern rather than an adjusted template, hand-stitched floating canvas construction, premium fabrics sourced directly from Italian and English mills, and a proper multi-fitting process. Our master tailors at Sukhumvit 28 in Phrom Phong deliver all four on every garment, which is why travelers, expats, and Bangkok professionals return to us year after year and refer their colleagues, wedding parties, and families.

How much does a bespoke suit cost in Bangkok?

Bespoke suits at our Sukhumvit 28 shop start at around $250 USD (roughly 9,000 THB), with the final price depending on the fabric you choose. Premium Italian and English wools sit higher. Every price includes your consultation, an individually cut pattern, multiple fittings, and all finishing details such as lapel style, lining, buttons, and monogramming. Custom shirts start at around $50 USD. There are no hidden charges and no pressure to upgrade.

How long does it take to have a suit made in Bangkok?

For the best result, allow 3 to 5 days so we can complete two to three fittings and hand-finish every detail. If your schedule is tight, we can deliver an express suit in as little as 48 hours without skipping the fitting stage. Be cautious of any shop promising a quality suit in 24 hours with no fitting. That timeline almost always means a fused, off-the-rack construction rather than genuine tailoring.

Is it worth getting a suit tailored in Bangkok?

Yes. Bangkok offers some of the best value in the world for tailoring. A hand-canvassed bespoke suit made with imported Italian or English fabric typically costs a third or less of what you would pay in London, New York, or Sydney. The key is choosing an established shop that cuts an individual pattern, uses floating canvas construction, and schedules proper fittings. That is exactly how we work.

What is the difference between bespoke and made-to-measure?

Made-to-measure adjusts a pre-existing base pattern to your measurements. Bespoke starts from a blank pattern drafted specifically for your body, posture, and preferences, then refines it across multiple fittings. Bespoke gives you full control over every construction and style detail and delivers a noticeably better fit through the shoulders, chest, and drape. We offer true bespoke tailoring, not adjusted templates.

Do you offer half canvas and full canvas suit construction?

Yes. Canvassed construction is our standard, never fused glue-based builds. During your consultation we recommend half canvas or full canvas based on the fabric, the climate you will wear the suit in, and how you plan to use it. Full canvas gives the suit a living drape that molds to your body over time. We will confirm the exact timeline for your chosen construction at the consultation, and we always build the fittings into that schedule rather than skipping them to hit a deadline.

How many fittings will I need?

Plan for at least two fittings. The first fitting checks the foundation of the suit: shoulder line, chest, waist suppression, and length. The second fine-tunes sleeve pitch, trouser break, and overall balance. Complex builds or tuxedos may benefit from a third fitting. Each fitting takes about 20 to 30 minutes, and we schedule them around your availability, including evenings, since we are open until 9 PM daily.

What fabrics can I choose from?

We stock a curated range of premium wool, linen, silk, and wool blends from respected Italian and English mills, covering everything from breathable tropical-weight wools suited to Bangkok's climate to Super 120s and above for business and formal wear. During your consultation we walk you through weight, weave, and drape so you choose a fabric that matches the occasion and the climate you will actually wear it in.

What garments can you make besides suits?

Our workshop produces the full range of tailored menswear and womenswear: two and three piece suits, blazers, sport coats, trousers, chinos, dress shirts, tuxedos, dinner jackets, overcoats, waistcoats, and wedding attire. If you can point to it in a lookbook or a photo, we can cut it. Every piece follows the same bespoke process with an individual pattern and proper fittings, whether it is a single shirt or a complete wardrobe.

Do you make wedding suits and tuxedos?

Yes, wedding tailoring is one of our specialties. We create custom wedding suits, tuxedos, and dinner jackets for grooms, plus coordinated attire for groomsmen and fathers of the couple. For destination weddings in Thailand we can work around tight schedules, and for weddings back home we recommend starting four to six weeks before the date so shipping and any final adjustments are stress-free. Group fittings for wedding parties are welcome.

I am only in Bangkok for a few days. Can you still make my suit?

Yes, and this is one of the most common situations we handle. Visit us on your first day in the city so we can take measurements and cut your pattern immediately. We then schedule your fittings around your itinerary and deliver before you fly out. Our shop is a short walk from Phrom Phong BTS station, and we are open 10 AM to 9 PM every day, so fittings fit easily around sightseeing.

What should I wear to my measurement appointment?

Wear well-fitting clothes rather than loose shorts or baggy trousers, since accurate measurements depend on seeing your natural silhouette. A fitted t-shirt or dress shirt with slim jeans or trousers works well. If you can, bring the dress shoes you plan to wear with the suit so we can set the perfect trouser length and break. If you already own a jacket that fits the way you like, bring that too as a reference point.

How do payments and deposits work?

We accept cash, all major credit cards, bank transfer, and PromptPay, in THB, USD, EUR, or GBP. A deposit confirms your order and fabric selection, with the balance due when you collect your finished garments after the final fitting. You will receive a clear written quote before any payment, and the price you agree to is the price you pay. For international shipping we charge standard courier rates and declare shipments accurately, so there are no surprises at customs.

Can you ship my suit overseas or make new orders after I go home?

Absolutely. We keep your full pattern and measurement profile on file, so you can reorder suits, shirts, or trousers by email or chat from anywhere in the world and we ship worldwide. If anything needs adjusting after you return home, contact us with photos and we will guide the correction or handle it on your next visit. Many of our long-term clients order remotely every year.

How do I avoid low-quality tailor scams in Bangkok?

Watch for a few red flags: package deals that sound too good to be true, such as several suits and shirts for under $200, promises of a finished suit in 24 hours with no fitting, touts or drivers steering you to a shop for commission, and vague answers about fabric origin or construction. A reputable tailor will show you real fabric books, explain canvassing, cut an individual pattern, and insist on fittings. We encourage you to ask us all of these questions in person.

Do you tailor for women?

Yes. Alongside men's suits, shirts, jackets, and trousers, we offer full women's tailoring, including business suits, blazers, trousers, skirts, and dresses. Women's garments follow the same bespoke process: individual pattern, premium fabric selection, and multiple fittings for a precise fit through the shoulder, bust, and waist.

How do I care for my bespoke suit and how long will it last?

A well-made canvassed suit will keep its shape for many years with simple care. Hang it on a wide wooden hanger, let it rest a day or two between wears, and brush it rather than washing it. Dry clean sparingly, only a few times a year, and spot clean minor marks with water and mild detergent. Shirts should be cold washed and hung to dry. We include care guidance with every delivery, and if anything ever needs attention, bring it back to us.
